Iain’s Oxford Essentials
Here’s my personal selection of Oxford pubs, cafés, shops and practical spots – all either vetted by me or recommended by clients.
Oxford Pubs
The Crown
A historic inn dating back to the 16th century, The Crown is famously linked with Shakespeare.
Records show that his company, the King’s Men, lodged here when performing in Oxford, and tradition holds that Shakespeare himself stayed at the tavern.
Today it remains a popular city-centre pub with a lively atmosphere.
Excellent pies!
The King’s Arms
My favourite city centre pub since I was a student, the KA.
Sit on this side so you have amazing views of Broad Street.
A pint of Young’s Ordinary Bitter is my top tipple.
